Welcome to DiversityByTheNumbers, a collection of facts that attempts to show what America’s leadership across government, business, education, justice, and law enforcement looks like. America is an increasingly diverse population. But is it equally represented? The struggle for equality, justice, and representation is fought on several fronts. Increasingly people are raising their voices, demanding equal treatment by law enforcement, fair and equitable treatment in the justice system, equal education opportunities, equitable opportunities to participate and advance in the employment market, and the right to have a say in the who and how of representation—in the halls of congress and in the private sector boardroom. While much of this effort is grass roots, bottom up, and in the streets, we’re also seeing a call for diversity from the top down, as business leaders try to address unequal representation at the very top of the business hierarchy. DiversityByTheNumbers answers the question: Is America’s diverse population actually represented by diverse leadership.? |
